WALKING: THE BEST EXERCISE FOR WEIGHT LOS

If you were to ask those individuals who have worked out at least a handful of times for their opinion on which type of exercise is best, the answers would always be different. Even if there is some overlap, as is the case favors cardio, definite opinions will never be the same. Some prefer to run, jog, or cycle to stay fit or lose weight. Some will support resistance training, and may even discredit cardio. Those who have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, however, and are trying to treat their condition will most likely defend it.

Even if there are similarities in opinion, each person has something that works best for them

  •     it could be cardio for "x" minutes at an individual pace.
  •     It could be interval training.
  •     It might be a fitness class or even a sport.

Since feedback will almost always be subjective, do not expect to find the answer you are looking for. After all, you need to find what works best for YOU - and not anybody else.That said, it might help you to hear our opinion on the matter, considering our familiarity with traditional forms of exercise and the latest trend.

When it comes to the ideal exercise for weight loss and better health, we believe walking is the uncontested winner. And it is not because we are particularly fond of it over other types of physical activity. Running, weight training, cycling, and even dance classes have their merits. But walking remains at the top.

Let us take a look at the following reasons why

  •     walking is doable for practically everyone. It is easy, and even those who are unfit can manage
  •     it is low impact, which minimizes and prevents common pains that can result from exercise
  •     it does not fire up your appetite like more intense forms of cardio, meaning it is easier to manage your caloric intake if you are looking to drop weight
  •     you can make it appropriately challenging even the fittest individuals can break a good sweat by walking 30 minutes on an inclined treadmill
  •     a mere 30-minute walk a few times a week translates to a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, and other complications. To quote Hippocrates, "Walking is a man's best medicine."

Walking can be done anywhere and almost anytime. When you consider each step you take is literally towards better health, any reason not to be physically active through walking is an excuse.
I encourage you to walk your way to better health, a slimmer body, and an improved quality of life.

Even though managing  diabetes type-2 can be extremely challenging, it is not a condition you have to just live with. Make simple changes to your everyday life. Include physical activities to aid lower both your blood sugar as well as your weight.

  1. I agree with you on walking but i have not seen any changes on the problem that i want solved. I want to flatten my lower stomach, what exercise would you recommend. Regards
